We have had enquiries from organisations including Probation Services as to whether attendance at our meetings can be confirmed, particularly those who are subject to a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) or DRR/ATR.
While our members are anonymous, our recovery program is not a secret, and some of our meetings will use an agreed mechanism to enable meeting attendance verification. These meetings exist throughout the UK and we hope this information will provide professionals in drug treatment, community, medical, legal, and judicial services with details of how the meeting attendance verification works.
How it works:
- Each local NA group decides whether to participate in offering Meeting Attendance Confirmation (M.A.C).
- A list of these M.A.C. meetings in an area is available to the Probation Service or other relevant professionals.
- At M.A.C. meetings, an identified NA member will use a method of confirmation i.e. a signature or a stamp on a card provided by the referring service.
We also offer verification of attendance at some online meetings, by confirming an individual's log in/out times via an email request to [email protected]. This safeguards an individuals anonymity while confirming their attendance.
About NA:
Narcotics Anonymous is a 12-step recovery programme. It charges no fees or dues and accepts no outside contributions. It is a community-based, entirely free programme of recovery from drug addiction through complete abstinence. It is our experience that people who regularly attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings stay clean.
We will be happy to send you a list of meetings who operate the MAC system. We are keen to answer any questions you may have, as well as offer presentations on the principles of NA. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact us at [email protected].
